All of our translations include:

  1. A Certificate of Translation Accuracy that is signed and stamped with your translator’s official ATA Certification Seal.

  2. A translation packet in PDF format that includes

    • the signed and sealed Certificate,

    • the source document, and

    • the translation.

  3. A copy of the translation packet emailed to you PLUS a copy emailed directly to your desired recipient, in PDF format.

  4. The original printed packet with wet seal and signature printed and mailed to you or your recipient, if you request it. Extra copies and shipping and handling are an additional cost.

  5. An ATA certified document translation guarantees that your document has been translated by a professional translator that has passed the rigorous standards of the American Translators Association exam for their language pair and direction. Certified translators have many years of experience in their specialties and care that you receive a high-quality translation that helps you reduce risk, improve your outcomes, and enjoy success in whatever endeavors you have.

Why not AI? Why should I choose human-only translation?

SET Linguistics, LLC guarantees that our human-only translation conforms to and complies with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.

  • AI Translations cannot guarantee your privacy and are not motivated to do so, because their goal is to improve their AI capabilities by storing and using whatever data they can get their hands on, including yours. AI translations do not comply with HIPAA, FERPA or Attorney-Client privilege. Even “Pro” or paid versions cannot guarantee privacy if they used third party services to store data.

  • Beyond privacy protection, AI tends to translate too literally on the one hand, and over-simplify legal and medical language on the other hand, leaving confusion, legal loopholes, and at the worst, risk to patient health. AI does not reliably and consistently navigate regionalisms, colloquialisms, calques, false friends, acronyms, shorthand notes, handwriting, slang terms, sarcasm, or abbreviations. Without human direction, AI cannot weigh the pros and cons, or make an ethical determination regarding the use of certain connotations, phrases, or properly maintain the register of the text or speech.

  • Having a translator edit a project that has been pre-translated by AI adds an unnecessary step to your project’s workflow, robbing you of time and costing you more money than if you were to have used human-only translation from the start. This is due to frequent errors, literal translations, and the need to retranslate the entire document from scratch to ensure that it is a truly faithful, high-quality translation free from error.

  • AI can be handy if you just need the general gist of a document, without any need to protect your patient’s, your client’s, or your own personal risk. All in all, if you do not have the capability to translate a document into your own or your non-native language by yourself, you should not trust that AI has completely and reliably translated the document for you.
